Southern Utah College Provost Dr. Jon Anderson declared these days the appointments of two new deans. Dr. Jeffrey Miller will serve as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computational Sciences, and Dr. Jon “Tony” Oliver has been appointed Dean of the College or university of Overall health Sciences. Both equally have been chosen after a national search.
“I’m proud to announce the hirings of each Dr. Miller and Dr. Oliver. Each will be terrific assets to the University and to the neighborhood,” explained SUU Provost Anderson. “After examining a massive selection of candidates and completing extensive queries, the visions shared by Dr. Miller and Dr. Oliver fit effectively in just the mission and way of SUU. Both of those appear with the depth of experience and point of view wanted to greatly enhance pupil success and construct society in a shared governance natural environment. We seem ahead to owning them join SUU.”
Dr. Miller will come to SUU from the University of Southern California wherever he currently serves as office chair of the Data Know-how Plan. Miller earlier taught at the College of Alaska Anchorage, the American Public College Method, and California Condition College, Los Angeles. He also has intensive private sector practical experience as a application engineer.
“I’m so enthusiastic to be joining a university that prioritizes pupil studying and results. In our increasing technological globe, providing learners with entry to high quality higher schooling is essential to continued developments,” mentioned Dr. Miller.
Miller gained his Bachelor of Science in Laptop Engineering and Computer Science, Master of Science in Pc Science, and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Oliver at present serves as the Interim Affiliate Dean of the Higher education of Well being and Human Products and services at Eastern Illinois University. He has served at that institution as a professor considering that 2002 with a specialization in Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation.
“It will be a specialist privilege to sign up for SUU’s well known school and personnel to collaboratively advance the mission of the University of Overall health Sciences through its distinguished academic courses,” explained Dr. Oliver. “Promoting much healthier men and women and communities via education and learning, experiential programming, and support understanding will be an ongoing co-precedence alongside with advocating for SUU faculty and college students so that they can attain their skilled and educational aims. Oliver earned his Bachelor of Science and Grasp of Science levels from Brigham Younger College. He attained his PhD from the University of Kansas.
Both equally new deans start off their positions at SUU on July 1.
“I want to thank all who applied to provide as deans of these two faculties, primarily the interior candidates at SUU,” stated Provost Anderson. “I also want to publicly thank Dr. Jim Brandt, who served as interim dean of the College of Engineering and Computational Sciences and Dr. Camille Thomas, who served as interim dean of the University of Wellness Sciences.” Both equally served the establishment and their respective colleges very well.
